5 vintage lockets. All handpainted. All on guilloche enamel.
Guilloche is a technique for etching metal, named after a French engineer, Guillot.
He invented a machine that could scratch fine patterns and designs on metallic surfaces.
Thus when powdered glass is placed on top of an etched (guilloched) design and fired -- turning it into enamel -- the pattern from underneath shows through.
We have had some INCREDIBLE examples of it at Anthill over the years -- it can be a breathtaking art form.
And so it is here. Soft, romantic and and quite simply lovely.
