What a gorgeous way to close out September, huh?
This beaut was an idea brought to me by the lovely Grace DuVal, a student from the Fashion Design School at VCU. She needed a runway piece for her elaborate "Phoenix Rising from the Ashes" dress.
We both got busy -- neither having any clue what the other would actually create. When we linked up, we were blown away by the cohesion of our creations.
The ensemble, (her dress, my necklace), was presented at a fashion show held at Can Can Brasserie in Carytown and then again in a festival on Broad Street the following week. Quite a delight for us both.
The necklace consists of a tangled web of golden chains, from which a enameled jeweltone and rhinestone encrusted phoenix is starting to rise. He is flying toward the red sun represented by a gorgeous vintage rhinestone brooch that leads into the golden hues of a 1960's honey amber bezel set bracelet. Just dreamy. Details everywhere.
All pieces have had their pin backs removed, sanded smooth and drilled thru to permantly anchor them into the showpiece. Southpaw closure with red brooch tassel down backside. Not for the faint-hearted! :)
